Brad Strand has set his sights on a huge showdown with either Dennis McCann or Liam Davies after winning the WBO European super-bantamweight title.
Strand, boxing for just the second time this year, produced the best performance of his professional career so far to beat Joshua John on points. The 26-year-old dominated the bout from the first bell, landing the cleaner, bigger shots during the 10 rounds of action at York Hall.
John came out swinging in the final round, knowing he needed to land a knockout blow if he was to return to Wales as the champion. However, Brand kept his composure and managed to pick off the 29-year-old before winning comfortably on the scorecards, which were 99-91 and 97-93 (x2).
And now Strand, who fights out of the Everton Red Triangle Gym under Paul Stevenson, wants to take on McCann or Davies early next year.
