Sunny Edwards won the British super-flyweight title last night – despite suffering a seventh-round knockdown at the Copper Box Arena.

The Croydon fighter was caught with two lovely shots by Marcel Braithwaite but recovered quickly to see out the moment of adversity.

Edwards’ skills proved too slick as he picked up the domestic belt on a unanimous points decision. Judges Steve Gray and Victor Loughlin saw it 117-110 in his favour with Marcus McDonnell scoring it 118-109.

The South Londoner moved his record to 14-0, with four of those stoppages.

Welling’s Archie Sharp retained his WBO European super-featherweight title with a wide points win over Artjoms Ramlavs.

He won by scores of 100-88, 96-92 and 98-90. Sharp improved his record to 18-0.
