At the press conference today at the CINEMAXX in Krefeld, WBA middleweight champion Felix Sturm and WBO super middleweight champion Karoly Balzsay spoke to the press about the big April 25 “Universum Champions Night” world title twinbill at the KönigPALAST. Sturm (31-2-1, 13 KOs) will defend against unbeaten WBC #6/WBA #14 Koji Sato (14-0, 13 KOs), while Balzsay (20-0, 14 KOs) will make his first defense against an opponent to be named. More »

Roman Martinez (21-0, 12KOs) wants to become the next superstar of Puerto Rico. He travel to Manchester on March 14 to challenge WBO super featherweight champion Nicky Cook (29-1, 16KOs) on the undercard to Khan-Barrera at the MEN Arena. Martinez fought his way to a mandatory shot and wants to join the ranks of other Puerto Rican champions like Ivan Calderon, Miguel Cotto and Juan Manuel Lopez. Less than two weeks after the fight appeared to be dead, a deal structure has been reached for IBF/WBO heavyweight chmapion Wladimir Klitschko to face David Haye on June 20 in Europes. The two sides were in a dispute over the site. Haye wanted the fight in New York's Madison Square Garden and Klitschko wanted the fight to take place in Europe, where both fighters have bigger names and can draw more money. It has been confirmed today, that Argentinean cruiserweight Victor Emilio Ramirez (14-1, 12 KOs) will take on WBO #12 Ali Ismailov (15-1-1, 10 KOs) for a full WBO title on April 11th at Mar del Plata in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The contract between two parties was officially signed two days ago, ending a lengthy period of preliminary negotiations. More »
